Replying to legorhin #jazardly I don't hate the overpowered main character trope if its not done lazily because it can be a variant of the skilled mentor archetype that acts as the protagonist (edited)
Overpowered main character can be done alright but I prefer if they're not. Main ways it's used not-badly is in a purely comedic sense (the fights aren't serious to begin with) or if the protagonist has good reason to hide/restrict their abilities. The protagonist having low self esteem needs to have justification for me.

Eminence is one of those shows that has really good payoffs, but the (self-aware) cringe is even a bit high for me at times
early S2 was too much
When it comes to chuuni characters, there's a fine line between amusing and annoying. Irl I'm sure you would find someone like that annoying.

To be fair, I find chuuni anime characters entertaining. But the real world equivalent is pretty sad. You're pretending to be someone you're not or pretending to have abilities you don't and need to make excuses when someone calls you out on it.

Now aside from a couple of scenes, he only uses that persona with his friends. He also doesn't use that persona for nearly all of 0. Meanwhile characters like Rikka Takanashi and Gundam Tanaka use their chuuni personalities pretty much all the time and get criticized for it.
I hope you're just talking about the anime because the visual novel is great!

Impossible to recommend is a weird tier
I can think of some, kodomo no jikan I literally cannot recommend to people despite thinking it is interesting
Yes I don't think any anime is impossible to recommend. There's always someone who will say something that reminds me of it.
Even if an anime is awful, if it checks someone's boxes I'll throw it out there anyway
Impossible just means *you cannot randomly suggest watching it without getting weird looks to the average anime fan
I take this list as "you do not have much information about the person you are talking to"
Maybe say picture you randomly met this person, you are having coffee, and you find out they are interested in anime and ask you for recommendations
