today's MT shortchanged the Roxy re-introduction

I still liked the scene we ended up getting

but it's very different and simplified from the novels

the manga skipped everything between leaving the teleporter to meeting the party

they did the succubus scene

but yeah, a lot was skipped over

isn't there like a really important group that shows up in the novel there?

it's weird because it's not necessarily paced badly, but they only give themselves enough time to setup the 1-2 things that will be relevant later, which makes some of the story feel more contrived than it should feel

so that's all I'm going off

ok, I went and re-read part of the novel

so, they skipped over a lot of world building with the Begaritto continent, which included people who speak the Fighting-God language you learn about desert culture/society, meet a few parties of adventurers, and there are 2 big fights pack of griffins and a bandit ambush

nothing "critical" to the overall plot

but like I said, when you skip interesting stuff like this, and character introductions, the ones you do bother with all make the plot progression feel more obvious when they are relevent later on

even the novels do a small timeskip in the desert, because it is a long distance, but it's about half a novel

that merchant is so completely irrelevant, if there's a what-if element to his story

he doesn't even warrent a wiki page entry

in the manga they leave the teleporter, chapter ends, then the next chapter opens on them arriving

anime adapted 1 of the 3 desert flavour scenes

succubi, they didn't do the griffon pack or bandits

there were 2 griffons at least

there were lots of desert mobs too, I'm not counting those

the desert is full of scorpions, griffons, succubi, and these antlion "behomoth" things

I think they show them all in the anime, but just cut down on the number of fights to a couple

and even someone as blind as me to animation mistakes saw some pretty glaring ones in last weeks episode

to note, the mistake i saw was during a band performance, the microphones and drums the band used would disappear and reappear in the scene when zoom ins and zoom outs happened

it was really obvious

sad that it's in production hell

btw the band has a drummer, totally left out of the scene on zoom out, forgot about that mistake

according to rumours the animators for the scene were not able to communicate with each other at all

and were on crunch time

those are rumours though, obviously the studio isnt gonna just say stuff outright

Its my favourite non-sequel

although spice and wolf is also close (I count that as a non sequel since its a reboot)

Overall season wise, I'd say its my 3rd favourite behind konosuba and MT

I am really enjoying it

Episode 8 only needs to be quality checked

speaking of BA anime, they had an anime original scene in ep8

but overall its not as good as i would have hoped it could be

Its not that its slow, its that it is needlessly slow is my issue

if i pick out my weakest show right now its actually Salad bowl

(also the fight againt hinata was lame and worse than both the S1 op and this seasons OP that showed it)
