Dungeon Meshi has the weirdest pacing of any recent show I've seen

a cour is 11-13 episodes
so a 2 cour show will be around 24
Anime is broken up into 4 anime seasons for shows, each season a show runs through is refered to as a cour

many get multiple eds in a cour, very rarely a show has multiple ops in a cour
my one-hit kill sister got a mid season op switch for example (like 6 episodes in)
Or you can be monogatari, where every arc gets its own Ops, so you get 4-7 Ops a season

It is the right kind of broad appeal show that is well done to dethrone FMAB
So it does make sense, but only if you understand how scoring works
Sequels get an inherent boost because the people that hate it did not get to the sequel
long things get an inherent boost, because you need to watch more than 10% of a show for your score to count
so for one piece, you must watch 120+ episodes
before your score matters
