Another set of subs has a different translation which makes more sense lol
I think the problem is they translated a chinese quote into japanese, then it got translated into english
if it was originally chinese the first translation might have been more accurate
maybe gent can contribute some
this is the closest I can find in some translation of the analects to this quoute, but I don't think this is the part they are quoting

I got the meaning of the original sentence as intended no issues
you can make a mistake, but it's only CALLED a mistake if you don't correct it
