Fire, if you didnt't know
in NYC
you'll say "I go to school #26"
"no way, I go to school #41"
like that
and they think that's normal
LEg, does Chicago do that too?
I thought that was just a NYC thing
yeah
ok, thank God
I find it REALLY dehuminizing
I'm glad it's just a NYC thing
In Virginia, they're almost all named after the region, or famous (Virginian) people
Virginia runs the gambit, we have a LOT of famous people
since we founded the USA
but there are plenty of writers, inventors, poets, etc. as well
and then we have all the confederates
Confederate names are mostly limited to those who helped with reconstruction (which was most of them)
The few who tried to keep fighting, are blackballed pretty hard
People not from VA, don't understand our history
so all the transplants want to whitewash our history because DATS RAYCIST
But I would struggle to find a better state who understands, then the state where the entire fucking war was fought
I think it's also the reason we have the best gun laws in the country
twice
I'm reading through our founding document (1628)
I found the 3rd amendment
it's really hard to read
yeah, guess not
And in the eight-and-twentieth year of the reign of King Edward III, it was declared and enacted by authority of parliament, that no man, of what estate or condition that he be, should be put out of his land or tenements, nor taken, nor imprisoned, nor disinherited nor put to death without being brought to answer by due process of law. This is as close as it gets
there's some militia talk, but it's all as an irregular force in the royal army
whoops
wrong quote
All the early Virginia charters
were kind of pointless
it's just people signing their names
This goes on for pages
CSA Constitution is really explicit
Section 9 - Limits on Congress, Bill of Rights
1. The importation of negroes of the African race from any foreign country other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.
2. Congress shall also have power to prohibit the introduction of slaves from any State not a member of, or Territory not belonging to, this Confederacy.
4. No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.i think the main reason I could never stand to go through school in the North
would be hearing "The Civil war was about slavery"
it's such a pervasive lie, that started in the 80s/90s
"nothing" is a stretch
but you had a good teacher than
