so, this came up in Australia
when they voted on a new flag
everyone disliked the current flag
so they voted to have a contest to pick a new flag to vote on
did the contest
lot of good flags
1 eventual winner
but when it went head-to-head with the old flag, 80%+ of people wanted to keep the old flag
people like the idea of change, but head-to-head, never actually want change
oh, they voted before

I like when we get to actually vote on things
interesting to see where people really stand
it's the same with taxes
virginia is required to have people vote to raise new sales/gas taxes
so they always get shot down
except in the SUPER liberal shitholes
so a normal county in VA has 5% flat sales tax
but in liberal towns/counties it's 5%+22.5%
since that's the only place the state can raise money for their stupid spending
