Never messed with hosting or containers or cloud or anything

And that's it

And it's just an old machine anyways

5 years ago, I would have bet on Docker I think it could have beaten the world

instead it's a dead end now

but both could be beat, by some fuck in his basement, who has a vision for how containerization should work

I just use vpns

And make it a local network

it's more efficient than x64 resource management, which is your foot in the door

docker fails, because (docker) containers aren't built to work together so you need to add complexity to each container

which defeats the purpose

The future I want, as a consumer/hobbiest

is what I think the original vision for Dockerfiles were

known endpoints, which are standardized across the ecosystem

and can all be slotted together and managed

a MariaDB container, can scale as necessary with more workers being spun up/down as needed

and multiple other applications, with their respective containers, can all interface with each other

instead of the nightmare of configuration and fine-tuning that's needed now
