This is why Patreons are cancer
lol
whose patreon is this
That owl game-review guy
he was mentioned on Twitter
and I was thinking "I kind of assume he died"
nope, just cashing his Patreon checks to do nothing for 13 months
God, taking that long to write a script for something is bullshit
I bet just like Rob he has only taken 2 breaks too
yep exactly
maybe?
I was annoyed that he didn't link his channel on his Twitter, just his Patreon
now I see why
hasn't made a video in 14 months
but sure has shit blogged about making on on Patreon
ebegging is cancer, donation culture is cancer
He used to get more
why does rob still have over 500 patreons
people donate to absolute garbage shit
Shammy: Patreon Earnings + Statistics + Graphs + Rank
Shammy Patreon, Twitter - earnings, statistics, graphs, and popularity rank updated daily
graphtreon.comI was wrong
actually pretty consistant
it's donation culture
it's cancer
"I like this guy, therefore I will give him money"
It's the same thing Rob advocates for, investing in the """creator""" not the creation
lol, I like that theory a lot
him justifying his patreon
I know it's naiive, but I hope the next generation doesn't put up with this shit, and don't give their money away
I feel like it is only going to get worse
also has this youtuber ever made any good videos
I have no idea who this is
and have never heard of them
It went from faceless charity ===> helping those less fortunate ===> to career begging
Script length comparison for people who want to know roughly how long the video is going to be: Annual Review - 8,667 words Overwatch/Paladins - 11,159 words This Video - 10,416 words
I feel like for a year to make mauler would make something 10x as long and at least 3x as good
and his content is already autistically long
It's me, being "out of touch" with the internet, I get it
I hate this shit though, it's such a dirty manipulitive way to earn a living
and the worst part is, they think they deserve it
if it was actually an analysis of every single hentai made this decade
I would be fine with a year
The people who genuinly deserve compensation, are so few and far betweem
and are underserved by platforms like Patreon and wherever else
I almost feel like having to watch every hentai 1+ times alone would take several months
which reward ebegging, over actual content creation
yeah
fully agree spooky
also buy jims hat
Kappa
The problem which has failed to be solved, is how to assign value to the content you view online
up to some daily/weekly/monthly value
yeah
I liked the initial idea of flattr, when it was launched 10 years ago
wasn't fully fleshed out, didn't catch on
but as someone who will pay people for shit, I feel like Patreon is the worst way for me to go about that
and one-off donations don't really work either
I think once a year
all content creators must fight each other physically in a battle royale fashion to decide their take of the total donation pool
it's going to happen though Pika, and you know it
I would be fine with this
once ad revenue bottoms out
and sponorship deals dry up, or are no longer available to the little guy
All that will be left is to fight over a finite pool of donations from gullible idiots
