When people learn that my main waifu is Sakura, almost invariably, the next question that springs to their mind is: "If that's the case, then why does your bot take after the opposite Fates imouto healer?" The short answer is: I already had a SakuraBot for another server at the time of writing the bot, and lost a vote that would have made the bot be Priscilla. The short answer is: I already had a SakuraBot for another server at the time of writing the bot, and lost a vote that would have made the bot be Priscilla. The long answer is: Back when the bot that would become EliseBot was created, she was an entirely different beast. At the time, all the tier lists were quite horrible - ten times worse than everyone says the DefPloy iteration of the Gamepedia list was. So one of the servers I was in made their own tier list, and the bot that would become Elise was intended to be a server-specific bot to look up information on their custom tier list. At this time, the server had a few other bots, and they were all named after Fire Emblem characters: Lucina was a mod bot, NinoBot was NinoBot, and Robin(M) was a bot for looking up information in Awakening and Fates. In Heroes mechanics, that was a red character, a green character, and a blue character. So the admin of the server suggested that I name the bot after a colorless character so the bots formed a color-balanced team.

When it got time to actually name the bot, a friend on the server suggested Priscilla, and this idea appealed to me because I had been trying to summon for Priscilla for over three months with no success. "If the game isn't gonna give me a Priscilla, I'll just make one." So she was coded with the name PriscillaBot - and in fact, that's still the filename of her source code. The next day, I wake up to a message from the admin of the server, basically saying "I like Priscilla as well, but shouldn't we make the bot someone the casual FEH player will recognize?" He, knowing my waifuism, suggested Sakura, and I had to turn him down. So the two of us put the bot's identity up for a vote in the server, and PriscillaBot lost 6-7 in favor of EliseBot. Eventually, Gamepedia started seeing things similarly to the server in question, and the server-specific tier list was depricated. But by this point, I had already started experimenting with what would become her stats command, so Elise, rather than dying off, evolved into the community resource that you know her as today.
