so from what you were saying it seems like they might go down sometime in the near future?

This is a few years ago now, but I remember talking to the creator of Periscope around when they launched
It's weird how many people have this idea that every moment of your life should be streamed
Even if no one's watching
that just sounds intrusive
You know what Periscope is Bopit?
never heard of it
but from the name
It's a phone app that launched a few years ago
Much like the old Livestreamer/JustinTV sites, but mobile skinned
It's what most people use to livestream on their phones, if they're not doing a Facebook Live stream
so was it like what twitch streamers do with irl streams now?
It's still around
huh
Twitch is very different
twitch is kinda stealing their niche now tho
why do you say thay?
It's like saying Twitch and Facebook Live compete
They don't
I guess I don't know much of anything about facebook live
Bopit, if you wanted to stream, how would you do it?
other than it probably panders more towards normies
twitch probably
How would you
Like, what would the stream be like
never thought about that, I value my privacy and have never had the desire to have strangers watch me do stuff
if I did ever stream it would probably be for video games
Are you going to have a dozen scene transitions, different screen layouts, chat integration, donation messages, bit cheers, subscriber alerts, emotes, audio production, proper soundproofing/lighting, and put effort into production
Or are you just going to stream
Because the former is what Twitch is offering, and the later is what everyone else is offering
Youtube kind of straddles the line IMO
I guess you make a good point there
depends on the purpose
I mean, Twitch is still technically an open platform
Anyone can jump on and Stream
But the platform is centered around content producers and personalities
one makes sense for if you want to be really dedicated or you want to make a career out of it and one makes sense for if you just want to share shit with strangers for whatever reason
People who are """professional""" streamers
yeah
professional vs non professional
I see the difference now
guess I was just ignoring the fact that someone might want to stream their life for x reason
I mean, I don't really get either kind tbh
I'd have to be pretty vain to want to do either
same here lol
And I'm not really sure what kind of person really likes either in an extreme sense
I know a lot of people here watch Twitch streams (myself included)
But I don't get how some people spend their entire day on the site, and would consider themselves a part of the autistic "communities" there
I guess part of what twitch does is let entertaining people make a living by playing video games
gives them an option to literally do whatever the fuck they want to an extent
I guess that freedom would be nice
See, I have to wonder what kind of person want the life of a streamer, especially now though
It feels like it consumes your life
yeah
I mean
Even though the hours aren't too bad, it feels like you have to be "on" all the fucking time
I could point to an example of someone who maintains a life outside of streaming
then again
most people seem to have lives outside of twitch
then again
the popluar ones are streaming constantly arn't they?
and by popular I mean really popular ones
There are a lot of points that I think must be hard for Twitch streamers
Even if they don't acknowledge it as being hard
you know I'm kinda curious how much they fake shit for popularity
I think relying on begging people for money to sustain yourself is terrible, I get why they do it, and that they have to
But no matter how conceited you are, I'm sure at times it makes them quite self-conscious
a lot of them make jokes about it
That's just it though
They can joke
And pretend all they want
yeah I get that spook
yeah
For the top 0.1% the money is amazing
it probably wears them down
For the top 1% it's as good as a normal job
And for the rest they're scraping by, or earning far less for their time
is that so?
Even if you want to be generous
