the only moral rule that I abide by is to never pirate indie games

then I had the wall of paladins to go in front and take damage

and I just had a swarm of mounted archers with very high damage and attack speed

like my first run started with a lot of archers and boars and a farm that made more archers and boars

nothing man allows for you to have sort of clean slates that you can build off of

since the game is designed around taking cards from other kings and applying them to your king

well I dunno which one is the best but I am a sucker for good fundamentals so I think my favorite so far is the king of nothing

king of progress seems really complicated but I think he's just all about upgrading buildings and units as much as you can

king of stone doesnt actually get many units but his shtick is that he's got a ton of buildings and gimmicks around making your buildings strong

king of nature also generates many units and has stuff like wild boars that can be rode by your other units

king of blood has many gimmicks revolving around generating hordes of crap units that provide beneficial effects when killed

king of greed is all about money

king of spells has some pretty shit units but can make them obscenely strong through magic and permanent buffs that can stack

there's the king of nothing who is like, a very basic generalist

it makes it so all units adjacent to it apply one poison stack per level of the cauldron (it was level 3, and with my double poison decree it was effectively 6)

right now there's only 7 of the 9 kings advertised but that's because early access

doubling the amount of imps that my pagoda would summon

I also had these little perks from royal decrees that gave me various bonuses, like doubling all my poison effects and making my units move twice as fast and uh

here I had to fight the champion of nature

each game is 33 turns, at the end of turn 32 you are prompted to play the rest of your cards before facing a champion of the last king you fought

also a roguelike

yeah in a sense

the cauldron in the middle makes all my units do poison stacks

my castle pagoda thingy also summons yet more imps and grows stronger each turn because of that quarry in the back

I also have the soldiers and the paladins from the king of nothing just as more bodies to blob into combat

like here I am playing king of blood and I just have a big heaping pile of imps, every turn they recruit more imps from the farm (rightmost front building) and get 6% hp from the forest next to them

well it's sort of kind of like an rts game? I say that in the sense of it being a "watch your giant blob of units fight with an equally giant blob of units" but this game is also kind of turn-based, like you select your king and you have a specific set of cards that you can get from your guy but every turn just about

i think it's pretty fun
