some may not be public, but like youtube people have wanted to get away from for years now. but nothing else is as widely used which offers the same revenue from content. if discord puts enough early money into this then pivot to videos then they could become a huge competitor.
discord could actually pass them if twitch streamers switch. which isnt far from possible since every streamer already has a discord.
