Actually, I think there's multiple ways to waste branches in the Shaded Woods

branches also seem like they would have to have complicated logic, like if you unlock a path with them that doesn't have a branch behind it (like Ornifex's door, which has one in vanilla)

yeah but it would still suck to get softlocked because you threw away all your lockstones on nothing useful and then a key item is behind a different door

there's just a lot of dud lockstones you can waste in the Doors of Pharros

The only issue with lockstones is that you can absolutely lock items out. They'd have to logic check make sure those items are never required.

I dunno if it's a setting or what, but my friend when he did DS2 got a master lockstone instead of individual ones. taxes and DS2 is the closest to that out of the games due to its massive amount of key items + branches + lockstones

Not sure how it would work, but I feel like having the bells of awakening as checks would be fun for DS1.

Tracker would be weird with DS2 actually because you can pick and choose differnet paths with your fragrant branches

I'm not saying DS2 isn't more nonlinear, I get that, I just like DS3 too.

DS3 rando is still less linear than playing the game normally though. You can get basin early and have to do castle early, cathedral of the deep is an entire side area you can choose to skip or not, you may need to go to archdragon peak if you get the path of the dragon.

if cinders are behind the bosses, you need basin and doll for sure taxes i believe the default rando (non archipelago) just makes the cinders behind the bosses but yeah if you rando those it can be up to 6, 7 if you include the doll but doll technically can not be required

small doll and basin of vows are also major area unlocks. Yes, technically the game can be completed before needing them if you get all 4 cinders, but they're still key items.

I'm not sure why they did DS2 before 1, but my friend did it in an archipelago and it was pretty miserable. taxes ds2 has archipeligo support now...

That's not true at all. Gen 2 has a LOT of new pokemon. It's just that they aren't seen much in gen 2 since the gym leaders don't have any new pokemon and a lot of them are locked behind Kanto.

Yeah but you’re not remembering that houndour is gen 2 when he’s in Kanto only.

I feel like since the gen 6 dex is so small, they're MORE memorable in turn though. The gen 2 mons have the issue mainly of just not being catchable until Kanto for some reason.

Namely the friends, the XP Share, the general region layout/pacing, Team Flare just being awful.

I think the issues aside from the new pokemon are moreso what people dislike about XY

I think there's a pattern that most people dislike their third game. So, people who started with gen 1 dislike gen 3. I started with gen 3, so I disliked gen 5. Of course, I've since changed my opinion on that after garbage after garbage was released, but I still had that initial dislike. Phijkchu_Pikachu I really like
