also, to heal memechat

I didn't post this before, but they actually criminalized livestreaming while driving in Virginia a month or two ago
idk what it is about shonens
but it got close
MHA didn't get quite that bad
I prefer anything that isn't a desert dungeon
That would require actually wanting to overturn this, so we'll see if it happens
send someone to Barret's office and have her aid in drafting the language of the next EO
and do this again
The dissent to the ruling is that Trump's EO was too broad, and it still almost passed
This case was not a serious challenge to the interpretation, which is why it being 5-4 is crazy
the margins on everything are so fucking thin rn
I cannot beleive this was a 5-4 ruling

BREAKING: U.S. Supreme Court votes to uphold Birthright Citizenship in a 5-4 ruling.
RIP @heir's job
I think it's really hard (borderline impossible) to control the internet, so I'm less worried about the slippery slope here
but that's the optimist in me, I don't think this needs the best intentions to be broadly good, and I think if anything this will have positive effects one-two rungs out from the massive commercia
The Microsoft studio shutdowns get announce this afternoon
this is real
@taxes
also, most important part of the bill
they're obviously not
it's like asking if Nyaa is going to age restrict their site access to kids
because they're all piracy sites too
but they also just... don't comply with any of this
there were other crackdowns which hurt dedicated porn sites in the past, and tha AI deepfake stuff will hurt porn sites
but this is clearly not a porn ban
I'm not even super anti-porn
appak
it's not

I think the pedophile fears for all of this are just funny too, "what if pedophiles set up sites to verify kids' ages and use that nefariously"
I really do think everyone would benefit from having a kid internet
Also, I'm obviously opposed to the idea of requiring verification to use a computer (which this is not), but it would be easier rather than verifying site-by-site, to verify once at the OS level or the browser level, and have that signal/flag be provided to sites "yes this user is a non-bot, non-kid"
so more of those verification sytems are CC only now
Depends how they implement it Leg, bots have an easier time spinning up debit cards
Do you just dislike CC verification?
In general I like the idea of pushing the lower-tier kids off the big internet, and moving them to dedicated apps that are just4kids
This does (actually) empower parents to control when their kids are able to use the internet
Pika, YouTube kids is like 0-7 y/o content
Yes, they 100% already do
This is YouTube kids Pika
it's probably in-compliance
I think as long as they action reports in a timely manner
for non-porn sites, if you don't age-gate your site, you have a bunch of requirements to protect kids
the 2nd part to the bill I'm also broadly in-favor of
it also fucks over advertisers, which I think is a win
Sites can also verify the users age in any way they want, other than "(2) Provide that a user confirming that the user is not a minor is not sufficient to verify age."
