Hey! Just here on a rabbit hole. Was a fan of earlier rob stuff (Newgrounds urealms to Pokémon). Reading up on what’s happened since then. Seems like a bit.
Hey, welcome to the server
Since apparently every new guy joins at 3AM, lol
But yeah, Rob's been... something this last year or so
I don't know what most of us were expecting with the resurrection of some of his old series/ideas
Urealms Z, Pepitoz 2, DvZ, Pokemon, etc.
but I don't think there's much passion in it anymore
Yeah what a bummer.
You have a favorite old series?
I think most people here were either Pokemon or Mindcrack fans first
old school GRR was some of the funniest stuff he's ever made imo
Yeah I loved the podcast Rob did with Johnny. I think it was pre the unforgotten realms release, but I didn’t hear it until after.
The GRR stuff was also great! Loved the superpowers one.
All of Rob's 2nd hand men were so interesting
Jonny, Tom, Deadbones, Nisovin
I know Jonny and Rob sort of made up for a while recently
But I think he went his own way again
Yeah I was confused about that actually. I thought Rob gave Johnny the rights to the unforgotten realms IP or something but now is making his own videos.
Big disclaimer: I’m not following most of this stuff super closely so I may be way off.
I get the feeling Jonny was taking an extended break from his career, and wanted to reconnect with some of the people from his past
esp since Rob and him fought and broke up on bad terms
they reconciled, and Rob pitched an idea to Jonny, make some Urealms specials, he keeps the profit, Rob helped a little
so they did that one episode, maybe started work on another, and then drifted apart again
Rob has said himself, he really struggles at mantaining non-work relationships
and he has always been one to have one-sided partnerships/friendships
Tom, Niso, and Deadbones are all still sorta around on the internet, and they've all made it clear they want nothing to do with Rob anymore
In general though, most of us don't follow Rob too closely now, he streams to 30-50 people on Twitch once or twice a week, makes enough money to keep going at least for now
but we all get the sense the end is near, he's burned so many bridges I think it would be hard to recover an internet career
Him becoming a producer for another streamer (which he seems to be leaning towards) might be interesting
or else he's going to be out trying to find a real job pretty soon
