I honestly can't remember him ever advertising Patreon whatsoever that early.

We can assume his pre 2015 numbers were similar to his pre 2018 numbers

the really interesting numbers are his big drop then his month to month bleed that we have been tracking

his patreon was at 550 when I started actively posting updates every month

we are at 250 now

I think the first year or so would've been a bit stagnant; while I was grabbing water I was trying to think, and the first thing I can remember him actively mentioning Patreon about was the Moody Bidoofs album, where you could buy it on Bandcamp or sub on Patreon to download it

Rob has only ever gained patreons from one start of a month to another twice since he started declining, and he only gained like 3-4

That coincided with OR/AS releasing, which was 2014

His early patreon prob would have had 100-200 people knowing his fanbase size right away

when he announced it

then it grew to probably 300 with almost no drops

then we get the data we have

If he announced it before at least mid 2014, it was pretty quiet then, I think. He was getting money from PkmnRob on Twitch, still had a chunk of money from Unforgotten Quest, I think that's right before Blip got bought out by Maker

So he'd be getting at least a little ad revenue from all the shit on there still

the only sad part about not having the earlier patreon stuff is I can't say rob has as many patreons as he had in x year anymore

I have the original video Rob used to launch his patreon too

so remember, Fall 2012 was his kickstarter,

and his plan to stay relevent while making the game was to use YouTube (which he really wasn't using before) and to do 2 weekly streams on Twitch

that started in the Spring of 2013, and the numbers were alright

YT was lower than he thought it would be, Twitch was larger than he thought it'd be

but he wanted to dial-back from the daily uploads to multiple channels, and just focus on semi-regular main channel videos

hence the Patreon

he started at ~$4k/month, big drop after that first month to like 3.5k, and then it held steady there for a while, he'd pimp it once every so often and it'd go up a bit

he was really on-top of doing his monthly Patreon chats, and had ~50 people watch it live most months

eventually dwindled a bit, but then after the start of Urealms, it spiked back up

Imagine $4k a month making “silly internet videos”

Rob didn't know what he wanted to invest his time into, which was good and bad

Tuna Bandits is what blew up his YT channel to 100k average views

people forget that Rob wasn't a YouTuber at all at that point

So he'd do these projects, and put time into things that he liked, with no expectation on them being popular

which is what he always did

but now with a Patreon he had enough month-to-month funding to just fuck around

which I think most people at the time liked

I don't really think there was even that much hype for his game, most people were pretty muted and just liked seeing Rob do new stuff

Urealms Live, for as Popular and profitable as it was, was this shift where suddenly Rob was consuming 100% of his time, producing something that felt like it should take 20% of his time
