I've not experienced this in a game I was in, but I've heard of people running games, having people with dice that look super nice but are super hard to read, so every time they roll they have to pick up the die, look super close to tell what they actually rolled, and have the DM/GM just ban the dice because it takes forever.

Replying to sudo TPK #sylfar To be fair, unless you're spending a massive amount on dice because they're either precision laser-cut dice(like casino dice, but more than d6s) or because they're made of precious metals, stones, etc and they're mostly for collective purposes, lower quality dice are fine for the most part
