Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak So I watched the video
what was it even about?
Uh, hard to tl;dr. Basic points are "putting medical records etc on the blockchain is a bad idea", "bad for environment", "NFTs are all pump and dump schemes", some leaks of NFT discords where people bully those critical on NFTs
Some crypto tech is worse than others
a like 20 minute segment on people getting scammed out of their NFT wallets
Is it anti-blochchain?

It is, but its a bit more balanced than most "blockchain bad" videos I have seen
He is critical of the claims that the people propping up/creating crypto make
not having watched it, I don't want to shit on my own strawman
but, most anti-blockchain takes are bad
and centre around things like "look how dumb cumcoin is"
He is outright NFTs are a scam designed to be a bigger sucker scam where you buy in assuming someone else will be a bigger sucker and buy it for more than you payed
or "can you believe someone lost their $10M NFT because they didn't understand basic computer skills"
he's sort of right on that
Like 20-30% of the video is dedicated to the history of crpyto
a LOT of people really REALLY want to get in on the ground floor with the next big thing
I think the video overall is alright
so there's a pool of suckers who will back anything
but crypto may be one of the single biggest impacting things in the last 10 years
whether you associate that with blockchains, or the "curriencies" themselves
and I think it's a net positive, even if you don't discount all the retarded parts of it
My take has always been
tech cool, 99.9% of people who are into it are retards
and like I've said before, it fucking sucks, broadly
how much people have to hustle for money nowadays, to live a half-way decent life
whether that's crypto gambling, the "gig economy", ecomerce, streaming, etc.
so I don't blame people for flocking to crypto/NFTs
and it'll work out for some of them
and I don't even think it's bad necessarily
the idea that we can have immutable records of things though
is an improvement
and I think the push to "digitize" things will soon become a push to get things on the blockchain
I think the most interesting thing he talked about was how etherum (I think it was that one) forked because someone stole like 20% of the total supply
ETH is kind of a crazy story
I also think broadly, that blockchains tend to produce better encryption
when compared to Type 1 shit
quantum computing will fuck us either way
but I have very little faith in most encryption standards, other than SUPER heavy ones
I will tell my black friend who is doing his masters in Quantum info to hurry up
