I'm much more convinced theres a genetic marker, than it being freak chance you just happened to have non-trivial organ failure from birth
so what you are saying is

I would seriously expect the body to balance out such occurrences if there wasn't also something wrong with them genetically
or if the hormone imbalance was so severe, I think it would be readily apparent from birth something was wrong
