I guess there are some niche programs that are made that only run on linux because linux people are retarded
the only thing I have encountered that needs actual Linux is trying to run ML on AMD graphics cards, and that probably fails on virtualbox anyway

even though the file system is correctly emulated inside the folders, there's still numerous windows issues. due to length limitations, you can't build any large project on wsl2

also old screenshot. but bazzite on my only laptop that has a gpu. I hate nvidia, at one point today this was one of the easiest ways to do nvidia that didn't require constant maintenance. this machine needs to be wiped so bad though now

I have two debian servers, one for my email that I never touch besides updating dovecot/postfix, and another that has a lot of goofy shit like jellyfin, immich, mediawiki, etc. What I use as my computer is just the Steam Deck, so I use SteamOS for everything.

Ive been running Linux mint, debian edition for everything. I need to finish up my VPN so that I can set up a jellyfin server, my NAS to back up my shit, and my aurora camera

During school, I used a gentoo laptop because I wanted multiple nginx configs and I used a modified Audacity so I had to patch their C++ code while it compiled. But now that I don't need that fidelity, I just don't care and use default everything.

It seems like everyone around me gravitates to arch as their main. I haven't had the time to play around with it, but is it really significantly better than debian?

I love arch, i may switch to nix, have tired a few times, but i have scripts that automate my arch config so i can deploy easily

I did do Linux from Scratch, realized it was immediately unmaintainable and tried Source Mage before realizing wtf am I even doing and then went to Debian.

I really think people need to stop reccomending Ubuntu as a Linux OS for converts
I usually recommend mint debian because it strips out the worst of Ubuntu but makes it not intimidating for windows users

My buddy was in the middle of a dota game, his Pop_OS updated, crashed the game and he couldn't relaunch the game ever again, so he changed to Manjaro and has had no issue.

I genuinely think that was a fatal mistake for RHEL. The people who weren't paying for the commercial licenses were almost certainly the type of people primarily developing for RHEL

we prempted him though and launched Rawb.art just before he set that up (also almost no one became a channel member and he was missing most of the videos anyways because he was doing the reuploading manually)
