I have not found a good podcast in 5+ years or even an interesting YouTube channel to watch through their back catalogue covid ruined the majority of them, and then USAID killed the remaining few I had

I second this
PhrogDor rawb
No pure content shit that I've enjoyed really much. It's all politics, happenings, or media cycled through one of the 5 giant apps now
PhrogDor rawb
All I know is things are radically different and infinitely more shitty over the last 10-15 years in terms of content on the internet as it has centralized

I'm missing some I'm sure
  • True crime is fine, women rejoice
  • 99% of the 2 guys talking genre died, and the only new shows are huge nostalgia plays using irrelevant celebs from the 90s/2000s
  • Interviews/debates are all political
  • Comedy either went political and died, counter-culture and cringe, or is very safe
  • weekly recap stuff is oversaturated, and most niches don't produce enough interesting stuff to talk about to sustain an audience
  • autism/documentaries are good but harder to find now, and it's mostly established series that publish SUPER infrequently
  • pop-culture podcasts died when pop-culture became nothing but slop
  • business/crypto/financial were cringe from day 1
  • educational were USAID'd
  • 2

A good docuchannel I have found that uploads semi frequently is BrickImmortar. Fun if you like Boat safety stuff

Business stuff is interesting if you find the right channels. Found a pretty professional guy that just does topic interviews of industry experts and investors allowing them to talk & lay their claims a lot. But I am a finance nerd so I find it fun to listen to once a week or so
PhrogDor rawb
What really sucks ass is all the streaming stuff due to the state of politics just gets swarmed by politics immediately being choked out of any other content platforms to shake things up

Oh, interesting. I listen to his Blueprint of Armageddon series repeatedly. It's very good. Or at least I really enjoy the humanity of the story he tells.

I do agree that I don't find a podcast that's just friends goofing around. I tried watching The Yard with Ludwig and his friends but uh, man, it feels very disingenuous and weird.

for the record, not saying they're bad history or anything, just that the way I like to structure historical storytelling differs similar reason a lot of historians hate Jared Diamond

Pika, I like to think this Mindcrack resurgence (and honestly its not really even too much of a stretch to say it) was sparked by your video getting popular and increasing Guude’s activity count enough to convince him that he’s still got it, and was a kick in the pants to get him to reach out to a bunch of creators
Wuvwand rawb
I will try to watch some of the new videos on principle because it would be funny if this worked. Phoenix is pretty popular so I could see it if he can pull some of the new age Minecraft crowd
legorhin rawb
you would think for a big revival thing they would try to synchronize first episodes across he group, but most of the channels I looked at didn't have anything

Really random recomendation but this channel is absolute fire

Also kind of a DSPism. "Do thing." "Well idk I don't think people want me to do thing." Yeah, they do, you just ignore and eventually ban them.

https://www.youtube.com/@WooKong/videos Same thing with anime from what I remember; I think he was mildly pretentious & also has the never ever upload problem. Bonus points for being a chronology though.
WooKong

WooKong: Using animation and popular media as a lens to explore history. Thank you so much for watching :) It takes quite a while to research and put these videos together, sorry for the slow upload schedule but please know I am always working on a new one
