I just think for people who've done that generally things have ended up better for them

maybe I could have said it better
it's less about the content creation piece (that obviously can't continue forever and we've all seen people trying to hold on for too long)
and more the leaving the internet piece
I think there's a cutoff, somewhere around being born before/after ~1995
whether you can divorce your life from the internet or not
Hmm, ok ok, yeah, since I feel like as a youtuber you can make a lot of money for a couple of years, but it's generally better to save that money and have some extra for when you get a regular job 10 years later than to try and turn it into something bigger and waste your money etc
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think there's a cutoff, somewhere around being born before/after ~1995
Most people say 97 is the cutoff year for millenial zoomer right which I think isn't the stupidest thing ever
and I agree on the YouTube piece, be smart with your money and coast with a real job later in life

What generation do you consider yourself Zyton?
Probably millennial, but growing up the grade under ours always felt very different from us sort of, so the idea of our year being the last of the millennials sort of adds up with that
But I also sort of don't buy into generational theory
I think it's similar to MBTI by making some good points but ultimately being psuedo science

I'm also 27, and am 100% throwing my lot in with Gen Z, had the exact opposite experience in school which is funny
being the youngest in every one of my classes
and I like the cohort concept, obv not some strict axiom or anything
but I think having a mindset about your place among your peers is probably generally good
though cohorts spanning 15 years stretches the bounds of reasonable
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak 27!! is a huge number
Yes, I have seen planets form and evaporate, galaxies collide, vast star empies destroy themselves in massive wars with unimaginablely terrifying weapons and wonders beyond your imagination

Ye, I suppose it's likely more accurate than just viewing people by decade like most people used to, ie 90s kids 80s kids etc. But the fact that the generational theory stuff has theory and conplexity to it I also think makes people take it too seriously, so I kind of prefer just viewing people by decade born, since it's so obviosly surface level nobody takes it too seriously
I hate it when people follow the zoomer boomer stuff religiously the same way mbti people do, then recognise mbti as psudeo science but then turn around with their gen theory and just go wdym??
For personality stuff, I've sort of began creating categories with names for groups in my own head, to see where everyone fits in among peers I suppose
Though I'd like to do research sometime on the 16 dimensional personality model that the big 5 was derived from, I think it could be a good lens to view stuff through
I looked up cohort on wikipedia btw
Im under 30 and online life is like delusional talk to me. Literally learned that everything online is fake/troll and that’s how I view it. Good to go online for a few laughs and information, other than that would rather do something else than just be “online.”

Online also includes like instagram and snapchat etc though
Don’t use either of those either, I don’t have a social media presence. Discord I randomly use for various games, then quit it for a few years. Probably the most I’ve talked is in this server.

YouTube is testing out a feature allowing creators to reply to comments with voice messages
twitter.comThat's an interesting feature
I think it's stupid, but at the same time I feel like we will see YouTubers doing it
I think private replies would accomplish the same thing, and be used more

Rob is probably getting what he wants out of streaming and his Discord server at the moment
He can throw together pop-up rp things in Minecraft, and have 10-15 people on voice rping with him
1 guy still drops money on his streams, but Rob only bothers to go live when he wants to coax people to show up for rp
otherwise he'll just get a smaller group of 3-5 and do it in his Discord on his weird off-hours
there was a second group who were still interested in DvZ "games" mostly out of nostalgia, but that's formally ended now so most of them are peacing out
I do think he's going to stop streaming altogether in 2025
right now it is still a chunk of money from that 1 guy, when he shows up
that's a huge part of the motivation to even bother, he could compel people to show up to rp in different ways if need be
sorry, it's 2 whales
Cabe and Artificer
Cabe is good for ~$2000/month
Artificer is ~$500/month
that's their monthly Rob money
they'll try to pace it out over the month, but when they dump early for w/e reason Rob will usually skip streams
totality of all other donos+patreon is <$500/month
Replying to mint #wimint he could need to stream out of nowhere still, maybe just snag a refill of his rp crew as you are saying (edited)
Some part of me thinks the only possible future content arc Rob even bothers with is GTA6
