vancouver and victoria have thespace problem of being coastal/ on an island
limited/no way to expand
Coastal BC is complete ass
its like moving to san fransisco
mainland BC is awesome minus the fires
Pika, what's the smart people term they always use to justify why cities are good
my mind goes to density effect, but I think there's an actual term
"if we shove all these people in close proximity, the smart ones will gather together and do great things"
Idk, its the notion of "walkable cities". They like to cope that you need everything within a 5 min walk of your box you live in
I would not want to live in a small town where you need a car to survive, I like the middle ground of "everything is within reason" so a 1 hour walk to walmart is fine, you don't need to do daily trips to the store
yes
Get a wagon if you are getting a lot
Also I do not associate food shopping with walmart
You get food at a dedicated food store (zehrs/loblaws, fresh co, food basics here)
Pika, no shade
If you are thinking food groceries, yeah that should be closer
do you post on r/fuckcars
I need to know
I like cars
just not owning or driving them!
yes
I am in one now
I just think having groceries a 20 min walk, appliances/misc stuff an hour away is fine
I like your suggesting to bring a wagon, that paints a really vivid mental picture
is my point
counterpoint
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I like your suggesting to bring a wagon, that paints a really vivid mental picture
Spooky, remind me in 2 hours
I'll get a pic of my wagon
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time Pika if i had to walk an hour just to get somewhere i would not do it
skill issue
get walk mogged by the really fat guy
I used to walk to school sometimes for the novelty, since being outside is nice and all
I can't actually think of a time I've ever walked somewhere as a form of deliberate transportation though
ever
I walked to campus for the first week before I got my student card which doubles as a bus pass
40 min walk to school was way better than the 3.5 hours to my old school
I mean, all of my "walkable distances" sorta fall within Pika's range
I'd just never do it
I like walking to be fair
it is enjoyable, you just think/imagine stuff
school was a 10-20 minute walk, I drove
grocery store is maybe 10-15, I drive
food/gas station, I can walk ~5 minutes to get to multiple
I'm still driving
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak it is enjoyable, you just think/imagine stuff
that's my job
my grocery store is 5 minutes away, I got a decent apartment
it would actually be slower to go by car
again, I did not mean walmart for groceries
When I think of walmart, I think of " I need a blender, a switch game, and a power bar"
Pika, I will defend this aspect of walking.
When I see people walking, unlike biking or God forbid electric scotters
I don't want to run them over
lol
e scooters are getting really popular here
Clearly I should buy one of those meme half laying trycicle bikes
I've seen those at UW sometimes
as a side note pika, We do get groceries from Walmart/Target and they are like 10 minute walks away, but we have to use a car regardless not only because it would be hard to carry everything, but also there is a main road between our house and those stores, with NO CROSSWALKS and constant traffic
Get one that is road legal and can go 50-70mph
I like those
America is very poorly designed Dialga, so that is not surprising
there is ny r/fuckcars post
