i'm pretty sure mining when nobody else is there is faster than stealing
early game though pirate
it takes like 2 hours to get the pick without stealing
what? you just find the garbage NPC and he gives one for free
that's how it worked for me anyway...
anyway we can probably afford the plot

then when garabge gets on we can get to work...
you need to do fish until you can afford a pickaxe, then once you get the pick go to the mines and find an area where there doesn't seem to be anyone around
and basically swep periodically and pick up the ore as it spawns
if you start hitting ore spawns that are like only 1 or 2 blocks then move onto a diff area
