Yeah building up stuff like that was neat, I just felt Season 2 really built off a lot of that stuff cleverly until episode 10 with Bopen when he killed Virgo

Ye only issue is then it was revealed there was never a war, they were just their vassals from the beginning of time lol. Which again ties into the issue cj is harping on with the world feeling like a small place where nothing has ever happened
