Replying to PirateMan64 #zytohn are you rob?
No, just on about the same level of retardation, and with nostalgia for a lot of the same shit.
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Dunceparse being a deep cover Rob using a voice changer would be the funniest possible thing
God how I wish this were true.

There's something oddly rewarding in my heart to have the exact opposite experience with being able to seperate a shitty human being of an author from there work
Like being told "don't watch my old shit I fuckig HATE you if you do" makes me morally justified in watching it

lmfao
I just don't watch old Rob stuff
can't be bothered anymore
This week was the first time I ever felt compelled to
It still holds up, we watched a few episodes of the old urealms cartoon in vc a bit back and it was still funny

The classic one, from Newgrounds, holds up for the first six episodes and Christmas special. It starts to drag on for episodes 7 and 8. The Escapist version had ups and downs the first two seasons, beginning of the third seemed good and then it nosedived starting with the Harry Potter stuff.
I never watched the OG cartoon.
Yeah
Late URealms Live season 2&3 really were the sweet spot
Season 4 we got the one campaign and you could feel the agony in it lmao
The charm of S1 being simpler was nice, I do think ramping the production value as it went on became a curse in some ways
Yeah, he really needed to just plateau it. Early season 1 is insanely scuffed. Season 2 feels like a real TTRPG I'd love to play, same with season 3(Though 3 needs some tweaks, I much prefer season 2 anytimes and companions still)
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 The charm of S1 being simpler was nice, I do think ramping the production value as it went on became a curse in some ways
Curse? It was a pre-emptive funeral toll.
I still love so fucking much how Rob went "The anytimes and companion are the problem! The players have too much interaction and action economy on a turn. Gotta nerf that. Oh, and limiteds? Make em free actions. That won't have any adverse effects." and season 3 ended up being FAR more bullshit with free player actions
Replying to cj_the_magic_утка #cj_the_magic_goose Late URealms Live season 2&3 really were the sweet spot
S3 was when I just started losing focus with crappy campaigns like the Lyn Azveltara ones. Senate of Deadlantis was great, it's hard for me to call any other campaigns in S3 above average.
Do we have an idea on what the second campaign of Season 4 woulda been?
Replying to cj_the_magic_утка #cj_the_magic_goose Late URealms Live season 2&3 really were the sweet spot
100%, the only reason why I think this is the case is because those campaigns were the culmination of every campaign before it
I'm not sure if any of Megan's patreon maps were tied to specific future campaigns. So you might be able to infer a setting, probably no details though
Rewatching Yes King and it's painfully clear that they are putting too many bandaids on the problem
Yeah I think the only people who would have possibly known were Rob, Deadbones, and maybe Megan
I completely forgot Yes King had 3 divine decisions
I cannot recall any details about Yes King to begin with so lmao
never
its passed
and we did do that with urealms live
we group watched some S3 campaigns live

Same, you can tell that the momentum was sinking
Feels too "manic" which makes sense given Rob

There's also this in season 3, more and more donation events that interrupt the flow of the show, which is kind of confusing when we know that it wasn't an organic flow to begin with.
By S3, you also totally got the feeling that Rob was forcing the outcome he wanted more than the earlier two seasons
I hated how every campaign at that point was tied into something going on in the Ageless War
Yeah that was my major building dislike
That was roughly when Rob gave up being funny to instead tell a story
I genuinely lost any and all interest in the ageless plot post senate of deadlantis
which later plagued all his post urealms live streams
Especially when it was originally meaning of Urealms was to be an anthology series with the occasional connection to a campaign
The vote for War was annoying as hell and ruined what made the ageless as a faction intetesting
Every "offshoot" campaign felt out of place and a snoozefest
See, we are in the minority, because a lot of Robs urealms live fans ate all that shit up
I realized the huge disconnect in AZ when people were literally crying over the genoicde scene talking about how it is the saddest thing they had ever seen
when it was meaningless, not built up, and they were nameless characters without even having interacted with the cast ever
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak That was roughly when Rob gave up being funny to instead tell a story
Pretty much, it was like he went from writing individual adventures to attempting to write an equivalent of the entire LotR canon and release bits and pieces here and there.
I understand having a story to push it, but URealms went from connecting campaigns every 2 or 3 to having every campaign be connected to some plot point. Was exhausting from the wiki standpoint
I miss the days where we would comb through campaigns to find a hint of a timeline connection rather than it being explicitly stated "this happened here"
I am a bit of a disagree - I really enjoyed the Lyn Azveltara story. I liked the dissonance that came from "hahaha funny sexy anime campaign :)))" into "oh yeah these are assassin's and we're watching them brutally murder civilians"
I am sure the Wiki people were exhausted, especially given the stuff jack ironhide posted about how uncooperative Rob was with them
Eh. It was compelling enough for its own reasons. Personally found enjoyment from specific characters and watching them evolve.
Like, Galen being one of the only actively enjoyable meta characters in the entire show, for his response being "y'all are fucked up what the hell"
Rob yelled at us for putting a companion's name on the wiki, which was aparently an Italian slur (I'm Italian and never heard it in my life) when none of us even put it onto the wiki in the first place
I don't think he apologized
I think it was the Dog during the Lightbeards campaign or something
I like that Rob got mad at the trap thing because "lmao trap is a trans slur" even though its not
Both the ageless plot and "meta" plots became super fuckin bad over time
Replying to heir #hyrrulfr imagine watching urealms for the plot
The majority of the fans, at least from the Unforgotten Realms days, probably did watch URealms Live for the plot. Hell, those of us who backed Unforgotten Quest were naive enough to believe the Kickstarter video where he said it'll start out as just funny little quests and playing to get loot, but that you'd get sucked into the story and the world while playing
no, we have to go back to season 1 posting
philepe is the only good character
When philepe's not on screen, everyone should be asking: Where's philepe?
Fandom obsession with philepe was genuinely hilarious
I'm sad that Philhipe Campaign or the Porbo one didn't pan out
Yeah same, it had a lot of weird to it but it was very fun
Replying to sudo TPK #sylfar I honestly thought Many Gobos of Pat was really funny, was annoyed when it was stricken from canon
Gobos was better than every single season 3 campaign
Goblin's have to be hated by anyone didn't you know
there can be no exception to the rule
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Gobos was better than every single season 3 campaign
I would agree except for Deadlantis.
