well, so the 74% figure is obv dumb and wrong, all western countries have gotten rid of slavery while some middle eastern countries haven't, and the south was in like the top 5 last of western countries to get rid of it
i think its important to note though, that in a way, the west never REALLY did slavery
since they always claimed that africans werent humans
they were never really in favour of owning other people on paper

still though, i think a big reason why everyones so hugn up on racism today is because it was the reason why slavery was allowed for like 300 years
whereas the west was always very against slavery ever since christianity
a fun idea ive had recently is that both the right and left dont like to aknowledge the effect abolishing slavery had on causing the fall of the roman empire, the right because they dont want to aknoledge christianity caused the roman empire to fall, and the left because they dont want to aknowledge that christianity abolished slavery
