they get a tiny stipend
and then get more if they win tournements
enough to live on... maybe

but that's the top .1%
of everyone competing
it's almost all sports neets
for all intense sports
sure, stuff like air rifle or skeet shooting you don't have to be a degenerate to do well
but stuff like cycling
that's your life
every day
just to stay competitive
I looked up swimming for reference
there are 2 major international events every year
Summer Olympics being 1 of those 2, every 4 years
but there are 8 total events every year that are a part of that circuit
so even if you boycott the olympics, you compete in 7 major races
yeah, people like the olympics, but sports fags really like "being the best" more
we could also just hold out own alt-olympics
for all the non-Chinas
Trump would have sent out athletes to Taiwan
and invaded China during the olympics
while they were distracted
