I'm confused though, how do you measure an efficiency rating

Like, the law of thermodynamics still applies
Power is being conserved
If I buy a light bulb, 100% of the power in is being transformed to light and heat
How much power is being taken from the wall / how much power is actually used
It's all used though Pika
100% of it
yeah, but unlike a light bulb where the heating part is used for the product, energy lost to heat for example is not a feature of a cpu
so I assume its the energy that is lost in transport or in activation of the cpu
or whatever
no process has 100% efficiency
I assume this applies to power supplies (since that's what you plug in)
Just seems like a hitch to enforce, unless you cherry-pick clear cut "ok" or "not ok" examples
Not that I care that much, not like this affects real states
No where lists the actual efficiency of their parts as specs
so I can't even look this shit up as an example
This isn't me just trying the be contrarian
I'll read the bill later
It just seems like a weird idea to regulate
the best I am seeing is some processors just eat up more power for the same task than others because said processor is designed to be doing higher level tasks
so for normal computer tasks, cheaper processors use less electricity
or something
They can't regulate processors
Full stop
If that's what this is, they're retarded
oh I agree this is a stupid "save the environment" gesture
Is that what they're pitching for real?
no idea
I assumed this was just going to be "were banning everything that doesn't get an energy star rating"
I am just looking at the physics of it because I know some things will have less efficiency than others
inherently
Which is just a corrupt review board you have to pay to get your badge
Also I'm confused
People pay for their power
My server sure as shit costs me money
It's not like the state bears the cost
"but spooky its the environment that bears the cost"
How do they know you're not running off solar?
Via your own personal panels
this is how they open their paper I don't think they care they just want less electrical use
this paper is 92 pages
this infographic looks like a shitpost
here's the paper if you do not want to search for it in the article
holy shit how is this not a shitpost
look at the VR guys face
ban stadia
ban vr chat
ban 4k
This paper is not written by physicists so there is no math
how worthless
if you look at this chart, you'll notice fallout 4 is pretty high up there in watts, so max is at fault
God that's such over the top retarted nonsense
switch killing it not using any power whatsoever
okay it too 52 pages. Here is kind of what I wanted
so going from a 970 to a 1070 made it use 17% less energy to do the same task
I love this chart because the red line seems kind of bullshit
>trending downward gentily
>4k gaming and vr will make it shoot up massively

www.zerohedge.comlol?
how hard would it be to take those out?
have to imageine that;s the first mod 90% of people would do
