how does anyone say this with a straight face
its not a product of colonization in all cases, but in many cases that is close to the write wording. I would call it more a product of a shift towards a cultural equilibrium. Gender is expressed so differently in so many different cultures, but culture changes, the world is becoming a single unit and so cultures change to better match the whole. This is especially true with the more different cultures.
Mint, I get that you have a lot of different perspectives on gender vs sex, but don't re-write history to try to make some point about how the true nature of society is to have a bunch of "third genders"
