they've stopped pretending this is about flattening the curve
it's now just a forever lockdown
can states even do that
split then merge with another state
california has one of its major cities suceed and join texas
states splitting in two is harder to believe than territorial adjustments
texas is now blue
only case I could see is if we were adding more states already, potentially allowing it for "balance" or something
DC, Puerto Rico, and Guam deserve to be states at this point
Mauritania/Samoa can join with Guam for all I care, virgin islands could make a case too I guess
