my read of the mail-in voting thing was that they said states can do whatever goofy shit they want
which is interesting, with them likely having to rule on the popular vote interstate compact thing in the near future
the birthright citizen topic could be brought again via an EO, since congress has a 0% chance of writing a law that even sorta fixes that until you lay out a way to do it without amending the 14th
There are a few ways they could try, and the fact it was close at all this time gives credence that one of the other methods could work
There are already exceptions where birthright does not apply, and denaturalization is a thing that already exists if there is the political will to use it
The current EO wasn't clever at all, and was just sorta thrown out there without a real thought it could possibly survive
it being 5-4 (or 5-1-3 technically) is still crazy to me

Legislators wanted to amend the bill to only include actual sex offences and not tier 1 offences, which they didn't accept, so they blocked it
Germany's Chancellor Merz: We can no longer accept the extraordinarily high levels of sick leave in our companies. We are abolishing sick leave by telephone and introducing the requirement to submit a medical certificate from the very first day of illness. We know this is a tough decision. But we can no longer afford this competitive disadvantage caused by prolonged absences from work.

2020s Political Compass Test
