NDP literally became a major party, had their leader who did it step down, then nuked themselves

Dialga, the NDP runs on fringe political left stuff, liberals are left but more centrist (by candian standards) except under Trudeau where it was more left
Carney is more fiscally right, so he's pulled the party closer to the center
Its hard to compare to US politics because you only have two parties and they are both basically the same party except the bullshit they talk about is different
I guess the current NDP is the left version of your libertarian party, where they are just wackey and they only get some support in BC and manitoba for the most part
Because you are not voting for prime minister, but your local MP, if you just so happen to have a good local MP of a particular party, they can get a seat even if otherwise a different party would have won
(I have no idea what happened to get the woman from that video to win, I can only assume she either does a god job besides being really fucking cringe and preformative, or her opponents fucking suck ass)

The idea the NDP was anywhere close to winning in 2011 is weird. The Conservatives still had a majority while the Bloc and Liberals both essentially collapsed that year. Hard to say if it'd be better if Layton hadn't died but I don't think they win in 2015 either way.
