i read an article about that like 3 days ago or something already but iirc they even mention that there, i think the point was more to challenge the modern "perceptions" of samurai, though I think thats a bit ridiculous considering how 70% of the time samurai existed in history, it was the form we glorify.
it also boils the entire point and purpose down to "did you know women were also nobility in japan!?!"
