I feel like there's been this background debate through the last few years, on wtf we gain via "soft power" in 2026
I can argue there are merits to it in the abstract,
but considering how much gets spent/wasted (seemingly by design) it's kind of just silly
If the US was operating efficiently and was able to be more self-sufficient, then we'd reap less benefit from exploiting the rest of the world/
it's because we've been so dysfunctional and wasteful for the last 20-25 years, that we desperately need to keep these antiquated international systems churning for our benefit
but in its own way, if we don't correct root problems, we're leaving ourselves vulnerable for when these international systems eventually just break down
I think we've seen minor progress on some, but man if we get distracted we don't have that much runway left
and most of the world will get brought down alongside us
wellfare is so unsustainable its crazy
I'd love to just start ending programs and winding down benefits, but you'll never get that at a federal level
If you had a motivated governor, at the state level you could probably set in motion some alternative programs that wean people off of the dole (or essentially force them out of the state
stuff like /ss/ is fucked, and the only move is to just write-it off and start over with a new system, the model just doesn't work
Trump's doing his golden savings account thing, do something like that but as a mandatory IRA type thing
it's not good, but it's sure as shit better than social security
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 wellfare is so unsustainable its crazy
It's as a floor 4/5 of the rax reciepts on just the line item welfare obligations. Add all the other welfare on top of that and it quickly surpasses the tax receipts entirely.

Yup, would be ebtter to follow the singapore model and mandate a sort of savings system as a % of income for everyone as well as flat taxes.
.@POTUS: "Somalians are ripping off our country to the tune of, it looks like, $19B — but that's only what they can find... Every one of them should be forced to leave this country, including @IlhanMN, who's a total crook... We're not going to pay it anymore." 💬 314 🔁 1.8K ❤️ 9.0K 👁️ 247.2K

better?
there's a word for that
URLs aside
idk why, but I get this sense that Elon is connected to why the Somalian fraud is getting actual attention
I've been pretty sure something would be done about it, but rather than sitting on it for a year, I feel like we'll actually see movement soon
if it worked once, why not just keep doing it

Trump fucks up and captures the premire of BC
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 collect all the el presidentes

❗ Maduro was guarded by Cuban bodyguards They handed their “client,” as a reminder, over to U.S. special forces without firing a single shot. According to Rubio, Cubans also ran Venezuela’s internal intelligence — controlling who spied on whom and making sure there were no traitors 😅
