It's crazy just how bad he looked, unprepared and just off
I don't think it'll have any sort of long term impacts (sorry Turnip) but it's just weird to see something that cringe get put out at all

pretty sure this is AI, but it's going around and is funny

I wasn't really aware of the whole push for biometric-backed IDs (beyond funny ones like the orb), but it's dystopian as fuck
Mexico just mandated it, and in reading into it it seems like a scam that they're forcing on the 3rd world fairly rapidly
it'll garner opposition on-principle, but my gut is that I don't really think it matters in-practice
AI & data fingerprinting are going to be 100% more effective anyway, and are completely unregulated
this feels like a scam where it's just 3rd world countries wanting a cut of selling their populations' data directly
ID-checks are still wholly unnecessary, with the two places where they might be useful (voting & border crossings) still being mostly arbitrary anyway
Mexico makes biometric identifier mandatory for all citizens | Biom...
The mandatory CURP will contain personal and biometric information, including a photograph and a QR code containing biometric fingerprint and iris data.
www.biometricupdate.comhere's an english version of the Mexico story
Privacy is mostly the same it's been for the last 15 years, and it's trivially easy to accomplish whatever you want in life without there being a long-tail connecting everything together
It's not even that much more onerous than it was before
Time to invest in some fake contacts and some clay

A study found 33% of teenagers use AI chatbots for companionship, conversation practice, and romance They found talking to AI easier than talking to real people and use it for emotional support

global warming has actually done it
multiple states are now uninhabitable
Keeps hitting 40 here
this is a pretty bad heat wave year
tbf, I do feel bad for road crews specifically, regardless of the time of year
being outside 8+ hours/day working on a road will never not suck
that's my carve out, other labour jobs are much less shitty
it's from the national weather service Leg

https://x.com/Dexerto/status/1950517649923883221 this is totally political
YouTube is rolling out AI in the US to detect if users are actually under 18 It ignores the stated age and applies restrictions to users it suspects are teens
I wish it would tell you your AI assumed age
I want to know how old I am watch habit wise
I wonder what the attrition would be if they made it 100% of accounts need ID.
It's not even that I think the "average person" cares about privacy that much
But given that most people use YouTube without an account, having to create one and upload an ID and do live photo verification or w/e seems like a big hurdle
I also don't think this is the way everything is going to go for the record,
I actually feel like the tech industry is frustrated by all the "Think of the Children" laws being passed and actions like this will probably have the desired effect of getting them to stop
tech companies having to do zero is the easiest
beeing forced to do stuff that is not needed probably does annoy them
It's actually a MAJOR expense, because it's a scam
There are 3-4 ID verification companies that are blessed, and you're not *required* to use them, but if you don't you'll end up like the TEA app and all your verification data will leak
