UK conservatives getting under 10% would be hilarious (they're having some election today)
nobody knows, because the elections today are only in the districts where there wasn't a supermajority of Conservatives or Labour
so Reform will overperform today
the reason there are no elections in half the districts, is because the supermajorities think they're vulnerable, and have postponed elections indefinitely

like I said yesterday, the places with a supermajority of labour or conservatives, decided to cancel elections
because they thought they'd lose
so it's not quite as dramatic a sweep as it looks
ok Dialga, I read a little more into this
this is the most British thing I've ever read
so, the conservatives felt bad that they were gaming the system and canceling elections, and put forward a "regret motion" to note that everyone felt really bad about circumventing democracy, but it's SUPER important not to let people vote
but then they failed to pass that regret motion
they tried to cancel elections in 15 of the 21 regions of England, but were defeated in some of them
so 14/21 regions voted, 7/21 canceled
approx 50% of the country by population
these are (mostly) local/regional elections, they just have to happen sometime before the next general I'm pretty sure
oh you mean call a general election
imo, you have to give Labour more time, because their government hasn't fallen apart

the second the monarchy tries to do anything like that is the day it is codified the monarchy has no power
they have that power elsewhere in Europe and it's fine
it's just the ability to call elections, if they abuse it they'll lose it I agree though
