The checks being cut to defend IP laws are CRAZY rn, even small YouTubers are getting thousands from the MPAA to "educate their audience about the importance of intellectual property"
the fear isn't even that the law *could* change, because it realistically can't

yes they're a necessary evil or w/e
same way that giving court immunity to rapists/murders to get them to testify against someone worse is unpopular, despite being a net good
what people want is for a snitch to snitch, and then for some vigilante to get them anyway
