I want Nintendo to raise prices above what the tarrifs would cost
fuck it
They should make it cheaper but upcharge games to 150
(they won't)
Spooky bias aside, the Switch 2 is mostly compelling to people because of hype and fomo
the actual product is lacking
Its compelling in the same way all Nintendo consoles are compelling
people like Nintendo games
they are always lacking
LOL?
Wii and Switch 1 are a whole different level
it's going to sell through launch stock of course, I'm not crazy
but I do not see it being continually in-demand after the launch hype and scarcity wears off
I think it will sell well enough. Pricepoint will hurt it more than anything
I think most people do not give a shit about technical specs
I think most people will see/hear lukewarm reception, see no big system selling games
and wait on it
Yes, but the people waiting will be wittled away with each game Nintendo releases that people actually want
short term sales might not be the height switch 1 was, but I think overall the system does fine
I agree with that Pika, but I think Nintendo needs to get there
Nintendo is at zero risk of not getting there. They just need to drop one of their big IPs in the first year (zelda or mario), and they will do just fine
Nintendo's in no danger as a company, but the Switch 2 is absolutely not a sure thing in the market
I think the market literally collapsing around it will make analysis harder to be fair
any 'new' product sells out of the gate, there are essentially zero products that don't have a wave of hype at launch
even if they're lackluster
Doesn't matter leg, they hear 4k, even if they can't even run it, and think thats great
Leg, that's also not true at all, framerates are a HUGE selling point to normies
even if their TV doesn't support it or they don't know how to turn it on
I have no idea what my tv even supports
I think just 1080
I did not buy a 4k tv, thats for sure
Switch 2 will set a bunch of launch records, there's no risk that it doesn't
if you want one launch day you won't be able to walk into a store and get one
and I think it'll be ~3 weeks until stock catches up
and then the hype dies down a lot, maybe Holiday 2026 Nintendo will have a big second wave of success
but I don't think their Year 1 roadmap so far is that compelling to kids and non-Nintendo diehards
price being more than a PS5 doesn't help
imo, Mario Kart is a great pack-in and an amazing 2nd game
but I don't think it's a system seller on its own
it's the game that everyone who buys a Switch 2 will own, but not the one they buy the console for (aside from people buying it on-launch regardless)
Leg, I read that interview too, I go back to I think Nintendo executed 10% of the idea that would have been wildly successful 5 years ago
that was the one use for trackball mice as a kid
