Canada is about to shut off the US's power grid
I know Canada does make more than it uses and sells the excess to the US, mostly new york because of our hydro plants
So I really think this mostly affects NY
it might be a local and not agrigate thing
where they locally need some from canada in places and then overall produce more than they need
I misunderstood
Apparently it is Quebec, Ontario, BC, and Manitoba are the four major provinces that sell power to the US in excess
so any of those border states
Ontario is threatening michigan, NY, and minesota
so this affects mint
probably the little bit on mn that sticks up into canada at the very least

you know, my initial reaction was that's a stupid and petty thing that will go nowhere
but there's an interesting meta discussion on how do you authenticate any presidential action
or really, any action that is the will of an individual
I think literally any other position of power (including congress, doctors, etc.) allow a discretionary delegation of authority
the president is the only position that explicitly doesn't allow that, you must delegate to the vice president and only to him, who then himself must delegate according to the succession order
but the idea that we authenticate anything by signature is kind of a meme
things are "authentic" because they're entered into the legal record by some intern in the West Wing who uploads a .pdf copy of the order to the LoC
who himself; on occasion, will fuck up and upload the wrong file
and if he uploads the wrong file, the correction is made by another random bureaucrat, who purports to know the will of the president
if rather the authenticity is determined by the video of the signing occurring (like major bills/actions have) then minor acts are neglected
How much actually goes across the presidents' desk that needs signing, and is it an amount that actually would "need" an autopen?
