100% serious, I think a Space Elevator is the most important construction project to furthering Space exploration/colonization because what we need to do is shoot 100s of tons of metal at Mars to use for construction, which is logistically unfeasible even with heavy lift rockets

or source the metal on the planet

Venus has an atmosphere capable of trapping heat unlike Mars

it has other issues of course, but making livable conditions is easier

we're talking long-long term but I think our current knowledge of how we'd teraform a planet is better suited for something like Mars than Venus

the duration which it could hold an atmosphere is long enough for us though
