ok, I've come to a conclusion
Vivek is a genuine moron
I thought he was more of a snake archetype before, but he's just dumb and wants to placate those around him
it's not self-serving, he just cannot arrive at reasoned answers to things beyond implying they're obvious
I was reading through his Omnibus budget criticism, and it reads like you gave it to a high schooler and gave them an hour to mark it up
that's probably part of it, he went though and highlighted every big number, and then wrote "big number bad" over and over again
but, if he felt pressured to put out a statement, because he's the golden retriever who wants to make Trump and Elon happy
then it's back to, I come away thinking he's a moron
The Haitian one if funny though
The meme justification being there are so many Haitian immigrants in Ohio and PA, they need to be able to cheaply import new clothing from back home
depends what lab, I actually expect R&D investment to rise overtime, but its a question of if there's a hiring freeze for some period of time after he takes office
cuts (if they do happen) will never be headcount based, they will be project based
so I don't totally see the logic in delaying applying
@Phijkchu_Pikachu if you were offered American citizenship and the conversion of all CAD to USD at a 1:1 rate
would you be interested?
I have zero interest in being apart of your shithole, I prefer my shithole
the 1:1 conversion rate yes
that is literally just giving me 30+% extra money for free lmao
If the US taking Canada over was literally anything other than a shitpost, I'd go to europe
yeah, I think most Canadians realize the economic incentive, while Americans largely don't
which is funny
of the exchange rate
1:1 seems "fair" to average Americans, 1:1 seems lucrative to Canadians
it's the part of the meme I think is funniest
95% of Canadians would be opposed to the US taking over for the record, regardless of the finanical incentive
One of the cornerstones of Canadian culture is us aggressively resisting being the US
it is 100% not happening, but I don't think it's anywhere close to 95% not being in favor of it (outside of Quebec)
The indians would be okay with it, but I am not counting them
being added as states directly, yeah obviously not the right way to integrate Canada
I think you underestimate how many Canadians like the fact that we are not the US, for better or worse
I think most of the populated areas of Canada, have more interest being associated with their direct neighbour across the border, than with either "Canada" or the "US"
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think most of the populated areas of Canada, have more interest being associated with their direct neighbour across the border, than with either "Canada" or the "US"
Spooky, unironically, its the opposite
you will have the most support from the praries and north BC
where <10% of people live
I strongly disagree
no you misread what I said
Oh I see
I mean that Vancouver has more interest having cross-border policies with Seattle, than they give a shit about "Canada" or the "USA"
they wouldn't want to be annexed, or lumped in
I can agree with that more
but if the meme wasn't a military takeover, but was a 10-year economic zone structure, with greater border cohesian and cross-nation service recipricity or w/e
I still think Canadians would majority refuse and be mad about it regardless
way less than even the EU
I think NAFTA was the farthest Canadians were okay with
if we wanted to absorb Canada, I think we could do it, Trump is just memeing obviously
but it would be a 20-year process minimum
You have more military than the rest of the world combined
I think you could absorb literally any country with enough effort
Cultural absoption also possible, but you would have to effectively destroy Canada worse than Canada has already destroyed Canada to do it
The problem is, we'd have to make the US more attractive as a country first, right now we're both in decline (albiet Canada faster than us)
Also I think US absorbing Canada would make you guys be purely blue forever, so I do not think Trump actually wants that
unless you trust the redditors who say this was the last election ever, then it does not matter
Republican/Democratic voting patters always normalize to 50/50
that's not a reason to not enfranchise more states, or split up current ones
Canadians also would not give up our health care system
If we made ours better they would
Our system SUCKS
You would have to make yours taxpayer based
also ^
Dialga is unirronically right
you aportion the EVs they'd get, Trump still eeks out a win
I think if Dems ran anyone other than Kamala, Canada's electoral votes would have pushed it blue
they ran the worst people both times he won
Hillary also did not lose by as much
I just think over-time, our stupid system pushes the parties to 50/50
and Canadians don't have some gene in them that makes them different from us
