Since no one posted this, Israel hit Lebanon with another wave of explosions today
this one much smaller, different assortment of devices, mostly CCRs like police radios and walkie-talkies
it was ~10,000 pagers on Tuesday, and now on Wednesday it was 1,000-2,000 CCRs
someone from Mossad leaked what the justification was: they suspected that one of their explosive implant had been found and didn't want to waste the opportunity
The decision was made to explode them before word spread and everyone got rid of their pagers, the source said.
It was a “use it or lose it” moment, the source added. in Spooky's opinion, it was likely the last 2 cells of the battery that contained the semtex (would not be noticeable when charging/discharging other than missing 5-10% of your battery capacity),
Then they detonated it by issuing a countrywide Hayes/AT-command
it's clever, because you don't need a dedicated impulse to be wired which is how you'd normally catch it, and it's much easier to do the supply chain interdiction because you're just swapping batteries
I've also learned that this is VERY replicable
AT-commands exist on pretty much every piece of cellular/mobility tech, it's actually very similar to rudimentary SQL injection, but it's semi-unpatchable
and yes Garbage, you will see this a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple/Samsung/Huawei immediately begin changing how phone batteries work
you'd want them to be non-user replaceable, and have an in-built fuse in the factory that will not allow tampering
yes, that's this scare now
it's trivially easy as has been shown
you DON'T need a dedicated trigger mechanism, which is what I was speculating yesturday
you can do it all in-network, via AT commands
the fear before was that someone was going to pick your phone up and image it when you left it unattended, encryption was the solution there
yes there was certain malware w/ keyloggers to be wary of, but that's a much lesser concern
this is now, leave phone unattended, easily swap in a new battery without the phone ever knowing it was off
I think the big 3 phone manufacterers are having meetings today
about how to fix that
that's what I meant earlier by fuse
they're going to be 100% soldered and 100% keyed/fused
starting in 2026 by my bet
since that's how long I think it'll take
