if there's a concept of a punishment for doing something, it should be pretty cut and dry that's what is "owed"
but I don't think we really think about what fair punishments look like
honestly, I kind of agree
They have to prove the person is not a danger
locked in a room with them for 4 months
I think any prison sentence greater than 10 years is on-par with death
and I think in a lot of cases, monetary dmg assessments can stand-in for prison
"oh hey, you caused $1M of dmg to something, you now have all future earning garnished by 20%" (until you pay some multiple of it back)
yeah, the prison hotels are weird
If you genuinely need to serve 5 years in prison, objectively
I feel like you REALLY should have had to fuck up
