Replying to Gent #gent_. Because democrats wouldn't get the women and brown people vote anyway
it's a turnout game, I don't think they're right, but if they feel like they have to throw a bone to the retard part of their party, then this is a low-risk way of doing that
I think the play was to put some ideologue up (like Bernie unirronically) to try to shift policy discussion to the left, so in 2-4 years they can run on a slightly more centre platform

twitter.comReplying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I actually thought they'd just back off and leave Biden in, because this burns Harris from ever being relevent in politics again, throwing Biden to the wolves is better because his career is over anyway
Well it does two things: Gets Trumps second term over with, and as you say, gets Kamala out of politics.
people were shitting on Vance because he's a "non-strategic" pick, but I can imagine Trump's 2nd term is going to essentially be an administration of only people he feels like he can trust
Pence turning on him, many in his cabinet doing the same, non-stop leaks from the permanent staff that the RNC gave him
The RNC's vested interest is making sure Trump is still \somewhat\ under their thumb
and I think that's hard with the Democratic Party falling apart
Trump will inherit the worst US economy in modern history, and have 2-4 years to make enough progress turning it around to hand something functional over to whoever succeeds him

I've been in the dark, but wasn't Vance a strategic pick due to his proximity to swing states
he's a junior senator from Ohio
Trump liked working with him, felt like he could trust him, liked his background in business, or something along those lines
He's less of a snake than a lot of others he could have picked, and isn't so tied into politics that he'd feel the need to ever betray Trump for his own career
There's no public reasoning for why he was picked, that's just my read on it
I think after last time, Trump wanted a VP who would work with him, while not being a complete ass-kisser, and who wouldn't snake him
