yeah, I think that's the piece that gets me too
but like, the elections don't even really matter
it just feels like something changed, and by him not dying maybe they didn't change as much
things just feel different, I'm not appalled this happened, I'm not going to pearl clutch and winge about democracy or w/e

it's because ex-special forces men (the guys you want to do this) can make more money in private security
a LOT more
so you only get 2nd string men who are either weirdly patriotic, nepo babies, or women
the number of people you need to field a security detail is also massive, discounting everything else the SS does
that's what I said minute 1 "this has all the hallmarks of miscommunication between event staff, local police, and SS"
but like
SS should just take him out
we joke about things like storming area 51, or w/e
but SS is literally designed to shoot on sight, and ask questions later
they are above every law
federal/military jobs don't even pay less, public security 100% does though
