Its not as polarized as US politics is, but most people will still vote along party lines or just not vote
and I like your countries, that don't vote gay and strategically
Canada's system worked much better in the Harper era, when we were an actual 3 party country
NDP nuked themselves by having the seihk guy in charge who everyone hates
so they lost all their support
We usually got either liberal minority or conservative minority governements, which tend to work out the best because it forces the party to play ball with the other parties
I just dislike the idea that "you have to vote" and think the UK is much more into the idea of protest voting or not voting
Australia is the most known for this
but I think UK (and Canada to a lesser degree) do this too
Yeah there is not really a "if you do not vote for X, the country will fail" mentality here

Even if people hate Trudeau, you do not hear people save you have to vote for your conservative guy or else
also, it helps that you are not voting for the party leader directly, you are voting for your regions representative
so you can like your local guy even if you hate the party
Which allows more fluid voting than the US where you have to stick to party line
While I have a lot of problems with my country, I really do like the parliment system of elections

2nd round of French election tomorrow, this is teh voter breakdown of the 1st round
Macron is traditional centre-right establishemnt, alt-center party is kind of all over the place, but still centre
mostly they are anti-intervention in Ukraine and Africa
that's their big platform difference
It feels like France has been rioting continuously for 6+ months
idk if they still talk about it in Europe

as much as I'm sure he knows he politically viable, I don't think he wants to do that rn, when he's having peak impact making videos
He'd win for the same reason Obama won, he's charismatic and thinks he can improve things for the better
The only other celebrity who I can think of who is flirting with running in the future, is Mark Cuban
and I'd say he's viable
