thats different. It's really hard to defame a public figure

Trump would have to prove that CNN effectively made up things (while also proving they were the source of those made up things, and it was not them copying other news agencies/public opinion) and prove damages
and even then
Trump would need emails of CNN coordinating hitpieces or something, like Pika said
if he had those, they'd settle immediately
If it even goes to court, it won't win
I don't even think it gets to the discovery phase
I guess if it did get there though, they'd be foreced to release a bunch of emails
yeah CNN will motion to dismiss on some grounds
that would probably make them look bad
assuming Trump runs in 2024, I guess that could be ammo for that
Discovery would probably be all emails relating to trump from the period of 2015-2016
which would be a lot
