my monitors are old and I can hear the passive noise they make when there's power going to them

my newer main monitor actually also makes noise

I discovered my two monitors I bought have built in speakers

also this monitor noise is only a problem at night when I'm trying to sleep

hence why I shut off the power to them

it's not noticeable when there's other background noise

oh I also like having it dark in my room when I sleep, I have blinds and two sets of curtains to make sure that's the case lol
