So I've been playing Brilliant Diamond a bit over the past few days, on my way to the third gym currently. I got a DS right before D/P came out to play it, got Pearl, was my least favorite Pokemon game until Gen VII. Even when I played Renegade Platinum in like 2014 or 2015, I still wasn't a very big fan. I'm actually really liking BD, even though it's a MUCH more faithful recreation of D/P than FR/LG was of R/B, HG/SS was of G/S, or OR/AS was of R/S, and I was a big fan of all of those, with HG/SS probably being my favorite mainline Pokemon games.

I liked BD a lot too

that post was about 80% filler, but I think that was the main point of it

The only thing I thought was bad were the chibi models

Which is a big thing to me, part of why I never delved into gen 6

stylistically I just don't see the presentation on remakes of the DS games ever matching up well against the originals

the DS era stuff is like the peak where all the experience refining 2D graphics / sequenced music in games coincidenced with the highest quality before getting reset with the introduction of new tech

I agree 100% on this. It just does not look good for the most part, imo.

i dont mind the chibi models

i started on sapphire but i was too young to know what i was really doing, and Diamond was where i really got into pokemon so even if its a lot of nostalgia speaking, it's the best game to me.

The chibi models feel like they would be great for a Kirby game, but I just really don't like them as they are in BD/Sp.

tbf the models were always chibi

They were fine as sprites, but once it transitioned to 3D - especially once you got into Gen VII and the body proportions were more normal - reverting to the style, especially in much more detail and higher resolution, looks awkward.

Has the potential to outclass crawdaunt in OU, depends on how wave crash works in the main games of course. Life orb might be better if it gives a speed boost
